Jeju Island (Part 2)

17:34

In this second blog post of a five-part series, we will take you to the famous island of Korea. It is Korean Hawaii, Jeju Island! This 2-days trip covers three must visit falls at Seongwipo which are Joengbang, Cheonjiyeon and Cheonjeyeon Falls as well as Oedolgae Rock. On the following day, we explored the beauty of Seongsan Ilchulbong and Seopjikoji at Eastern Jeju,
Everything seems not working well as we planned when it comes to Jeju trip. At first, I got a phone call from Easter Jet telling me that they need to reschedule our flight date from Gimpo to Jeju as their plane is undergoing maintenance check. So, instead of flying to Jeju at 7 am, our flight to Jeju will be at 8.30 am on Nov 23. We thought after safely arrived in Jeju, our trip will be smooth.

Initially we'd planned to hire a rental car from Lotte Rent-a-Car for two days. However, we had been told by the receptionist that they only accept credit cards for foreigners, payment via debit cards and cash is only for locals. Clueless, dumbfounded. We then returned to the airport and after a deep thought, we decided to go with our trip plan but by taking BUS. I am very grateful as Molin did pretty well in reading Naver Maps in Hangul. Going to a non-English country with a travel partner that could understand the native language is totally a bonus!

Here are few points that might be helpful if you are planning to visit Jeju Island:

1) Going to Jeju during Korean non-holiday period could save you from spending ton of money on the airfares. We paid Easter Jet 36000 krw for flight return tickets Gimpo-Jeju!

2) It is actually possible to travel around Jeju by public transports. We could say that public buses in Jeju are convenient enough even though they are not as frequent as in Seoul. Don't be surprised as cabs in Jeju are two times way cheaper than in Seoul. 30 minutes journey by a cab worth 12000 krw is pretty cheap right?
3) Rent a car from Lotte Rent-a-Car as you could get rental discount at half of the actual price when you register with them. Just remember, get a credit card before you flying to Jeju and your trip will be fab as ever.
4) There are many guesthouses and hotels near to Seongsan Ilchulbong. We stayed at Sunflower Minbak which is 8 minutes walking from Seongsan Ilchulbong. The price for two per night is 51 AUD and the minbak is super comfy.
5) A few recommended places that we weren't able to cover as we didn't drive in Jeju are Juseonjelli Cliffs, Sangumburi Crater, Gimnyeong Maze Park, Gimnyeong  Seonsegi Beach and Mount Hallasan. If only we could drive, it would be much amazing trip. Maybe, there will be a visit to Jeju in the future who knows (:
